Tales From The Great Pause

Post-Industrial Productions proudly presents Tales From The Great Pause: Burnout, Balance, & Bouncing Back, a virtual fundraiser featuring new spoken word stories, poems, and monologues created by the Western New York community, with all proceeds raised to benefit FeedMore of WNY.

Call for Stories

Post-Industrial Productions is seeking 2-4-minute stories, spoken word pieces, poems, or monologues (roughly 500 word limit) that can be performed by local actors for an audience on a virtual platform. These stories should address the past year (“The Great Pause”) during which our plans, routines, and even livelihoods were put on pause, and the burnout that has resulted for many as we struggle to achieve balance in our daily lives while supporting those around us.

Writing Prompt

BURNOUT: The eternal problem of our time, characterized by feelings of exhaustion, fatigue and weariness caused by our fast-paced culture. How have you experienced burnout over the past year, and if so, how have you dealt with these feelings?
  • What or who are you most grateful for to help you get through the last year?
  • In what ways has our culture of over-stimulation, over-productivity, & work and media overload contributed to these experiences?
  • What media has helped you?
  • How have you bounced back from these sensations and experiences?
  • How have you found ways to stay connected with people you care about?
  • How will children who have attended school at home for the past year be affected by this experience in their development?
  • How have you approached, confronted, or challenged institutional racism, anti-blackness, anti-Asian sentiment, ableism, and other racial/social injustices?

Connecting for a Cause

100% of the funds raised through the Tales From The Great Pause virtual event will benefit FeedMore of WNY.

FeedMore of WNY (an organization very near and dear to us) continues to make an incredible impact on our community during this very challenging period. During our livestream event, a donate button will be placed prominently in the viewing window and audience members will be encouraged to make a donation to benefit this organization.

We will also be raffling off three $50 Amazon gift cards for viewers that subscribe to our mailing list before or during the event, so be sure to sign up for a chance to win!
